Day 1: Arrival at Calicut
Calicut (Kozhikode) was once a prominent trade and commerce center and
the most important city of Malabar region. At present it is synonymous
with lush green countryside, serene beaches, wildlife sanctuaries,
hills, historic sites, rivers and a unique culture. Upon arrival you
will be transferred to the Kappad beach. Kappad was the place where
Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, had put his first steps on
Indian soil. Spend the night at the resort on the Kappad beach.
Day 2: Calicut - Beypore - Calicut
Located about 10 km south of Kozhikode town at the mouth of the
Chaliyar River is Beypore. The Beypore beach is famous for its ancient
shipbuilding yard. Later you will return back to your resort on the
Kappad Beach.
Day 3: Calicut - Mahe
After breakfast at the resort you will be driven to Mahe. Upon arrival
at Mahe transfer to Ayisha Manzil, a heritage bungalow located on the
Arabian Sea. In the afternoon visit the fort and mosque. Overnight stay
will be at bungalow.
Day 4: Mahe
On the fourth day of your cultural travel you will tour Mahe, visiting
art centers and watching 'Theyyam' dance and the traditional martial art
of Kerala, Kalari Payattu. Overnight stay would be at Ayisha Manzil.
Day 5: Mahe - Wayanad
After breakfast you will drive to Wayanad, another fascinating and
cultural destination in Kerala, God's own country. Upon arrival you will
check into Vythiri resort, which is surrounded by rainforests. The
eco-friendly Vythiri resort provides for bird watching, trekking,
elephant ride and much more. Overnight stay will be at the resort.
Day 6: Wayanad
After breakfast at the resort you will set out exploring some more
facets of Wayanad. The tour includes visit to a tribal village and the
tribal museum. To make your Kerala travel more exciting we will take you
for a 4 km trek to an ancient cave. Overnight stay will be at the
Vythiri Resort.
Day 7: Wayanad - Cheruthuruthy
It is time to say good-bye to Wayanad and head for yet another cultural
destination in Kerala, Cheruthuruthy. At Cheruthuruthy you will visit
the school of traditional art and dance- Natya Kala Mandalam. You will
also get to explore the lifestyle of local potters and weavers.
Overnight stay will be at the Hotel.
Day 8: Cochin/Kochi
After breakfast you will drive to Cochin, one of the most important
historical and cultural destinations in Kerala. Cochin presents an
amazing mixture of Portuguese, Dutch and Chinese culture. It is
interesting to note that a small population of Jews still resides at
Cochin.
Day 9: Cochin - Alleppey
On the ninth day of your Kerala travel you will arrive at Alleppey, one
of the most fascinating destinations in Kerala. Alleppey/Alappuzha is
known for its beautiful and serene backwaters. Here, you can explore the
wonderful backwaters of Kerala on the traditional Kerala houseboats,
called Kettuvallams. The overnight stay on the houseboat will include
delicious meals and an opportunity to observe local livelihood along the
shores of the Kerala backwaters.
Day 10: Thottapally - Kovalam
On the penultimate day of your Kerala travel you arrive at Thottapally,
where you disembark from your houseboat and drive to Kovalam, the most
popular and beautiful beach in Kerala. On your way to Kovalam you will
stop briefly at the Haripad Subramanian Snake Temple, which houses 500
snake statues. Overnight stay will be at the beach resort in Kovalam.
Day 11: Departure
Your fascinating travel to Kerala comes to an end. Our representative
will transfer you to the Trivandrum/Thiruvananthapuram airport for your
onward journey back home.
